Jay Mabin is a dynamic harmonica virtuoso whose soulful sound has shaped the Pacific Northwest jazz and blues scene for over five decades. A Chicago native mentored by blues legend Sonny Terry and trained by harmonica masters Toots Thielemans as well as Howard Levy, Mabin blends jazz, blues, and pop with deep emotion and playful flair. He’s shared the stage with icons including Bo Diddley and Bud Shank and has also been a featured artist with the Quincy Jones Square Celebration Orchestra in the highly acclaimed "For the Love of Quincy!" show. Jay continues to captivate audiences of all ages from major venues to intimate stages. His exciting band includes Mason Hargrove on guitar, Steve Kim on Bass and Jeff Busch on drums.

Bruce Laven (Keyboards & Lead Vocals) – A seasoned performer, Bruce adds soul and style with his work in bands like Duffy Bishop, The Squirrels, and Paul Green.• Dave Austin (Drums) – A force behind the rhythm, Dave has played with legends like Michael Powers, Lee Oskar, and DoctorfunK.

Blues & Brews with Chromatic Jazz Harmonica Virtuoso Jay Mabin!
Jay Mabin is a dynamic and soulful musician whose harmonica and bass playing have made him a fixture in the Pacific Northwest jazz and blues scene for over five decades. A Chicago native, Mabin was mentored by blues legend Sonny Terry and went on to study with harmonica masters Toots Thielemans and Howard Levy, shaping a distinctive voice that blends jazz, blues, and pop with emotional depth and flair. He’s performed alongside icons like Bo Diddley and Bud Shank, led the Jay Mabin Trio, and thrilled audiences from major venues to intimate community stages. In addition to his performing career, Mabin has been a passionate advocate for local music, co-founding the Sunday Jazz Brunch at Macaluso’s and championing events like the Jackson Street Jazz Walk.
